Clipping Flight Feathers
Chickens don't fly as such its much more of a flap, run and a jump, but with the wind behind them they can sometimes get as high as 4ft in the air. We are more than happy to re-trim the flight feathers on your hens once they have grown back free of charge however, if you would like to do this yourself please read the following which hopefully will help.
Clipping is only done on one side, it doesn't matter which side you do, but it you do both sides it will not work. It does not hurt the birds, its just like cutting your nails.
Gently extend the wing you wish to trim, and with a sharp pair of scissors cut to the diagram below

Note.
This does not always work, some hens just seem to be determined to get onto fences etc, remember not to place any objects next to a fence that the hen can use as a stepping stone, always make sure your fences or runs are high enough to keep them in.... or risk losing your hens or falling out with the neighbours when they find your little darlings tearing up their borders in their quest for worms.
