Listed below are
all of the hybrid POL hens we have for sale here at Merrydale Farm any
of these hybrid hens can be mixed together giving you a wonderfully colourful
flock, Unfortunately we cannot take reservations for the hens, if you
find that the chicken you would like is sold out, email us with your
requirements and we will send you an email when they become available
again. Email
Us. We generally have new flocks of POL hens available at the end
of every month.
When you collect your hens please dont forget to bring
either a box, (a crisp size box will hold two hens) or a suitable pet
carrier. We also stock pet carriers suitable for two hens £2.50
each CURRENTLY OUT OF STOCK. PLEASE BRING A BOX.. PLEASE NOTE. ALL
HENS ARE COLLECTION ONLY, WE CANNOT DELIVER.
Feathers can be trimmed if required, and we are only
too happy to show customers how to do it in the future, or you are
more than welcome to bring your hens to us to be trimmed for free.
POL hybrid hens are 15+ weeks old, generally they will
begin to lay at approx 20 weeks. |

Merrydale Ranger (New
for 2008) |
These amazing birds are capable of laying upto 340 light
brown eggs in their first year and are the standard commercial bird.
These birds can be from the following strains: Warren, Hisex, Hiline
or Lohman.

Merrydale Copper Black |
A Copper Black Maran based hybrid, with
a large percentage laying a dark brown egg. She is very attractive
bird whose black feathers shine a petrol green when out in the sun.

One of the most docile of hybrids we sell,
very inquisitive and a real "sweetie", making her another
family favourite.
Feather colours vary from a pure cream to
a speckled brown

A beautiful blue hybrid which is one of the largest hybrids in the
range. She will lay a creamy brown egg.

A prolific layer of pure white eggs. The snowbell is one of the smaller
hybrids making it a little bit easier for children to handle.

A French Maran based hybrid laying a light brown egg, she has a
striking feather colour making her a wonderful colourful addition

Pied |
Another good looking hybrid with a thick unusual plumage. She will
lay a brown egg.

Merrydale
Crested |
The crested, bred from a cream creasted legbar is still
being developed as a commercial blue egg laying bird.programme, involving
the use of traditional British bloodlines gives a varied coloured hybrid.
A Breeding programme, involving theuse of traditional
from cream or tan through to blue and grey, or mottled feathering,
often with a lighter hue to the breast.
A proportion are crested and comb size varies.
A good sized bird, with 80% laying a blue/green, medium to large egg,
the remainder lay a range of pastel shades.
