Unfortunately we do not offer holiday care service at Merrydale. We are extremely proud of the healthy hens we sell and and would not like to compromise their health from diseases brought into the farm from other hens. Hens can be viral carriers without your knowledge and although seem and are perfectly healthy and laying eggs they can pass on fatal diseases to other hens.

No matter how much a coop is disinfected all it takes in one hen to be brought into the farm and a virus can be carried through the air or on our clothes to other "holidaying hens" and also to our stock.

Find out if your neighbours can maybe let them out for you... sometimes the promise of some free fresh eggs will hopefully make them respond with a yes.

Alternatively we do rent out small plastic coops with 2m runs, these can fit in an average estate size car. Plastic coops and be throughly disinfected (unlike wooden coops), and generally do not get the dreaded red mite problem (unlike wooden coops). This will enable you to take your hens to your hen sitter and give you full piece of mind about your girls. Note: coop will be suitable for 3 hens.

Charges are £15.00 per week + refundable deposit.
